The word of God tells us to “take our thoughts captive”, to “set our mind on things above”, to “pray without ceasing”, to “think about such things” – that is fill our minds with truth all day long.
Do not be conformed to this world – but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. ~ Romans 12:2
God designed our brains so that the most dominant thoughts win! That’s a good thing – IF we dwell on truth. Renewing our minds is essential to not only permanently change unhealthy habits, but also realize a Christ-confidence that allows us to see ourselves as the unique and special creation we really are in Him!
As a broken woman who believed lies that were destroying my health, relationships, and identity – I learned firsthand the power of a renewed mind. One of my favorite verses that first helped me overcome panic attacks was 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” Telling myself this truth over…and over…and over for almost a year literally transformed my life.
I’ve dedicated years to teaching women how to realize the same kind of freedom I’ve found. My Healthy Self-Talk CDs have been used by thousands to teach them how to speak truth to themselves and renew their minds.
