Why I Wrote Beyond Betrayal
In the fifty plus years that I’ve known Jesus, I’ve learned that he never intends for our pain or losses to be forgotten or wasted. He is a God of pursuing love Who desires redemption and restoration. With Him. And with each other.
While this book is a work of fiction, it is inspired by a very painful season of my life. There are many similarities to Kate and Grant’s story and mine.
Sadly, “Gray Divorces” — couples divorcing after the age of fifty—have more than doubled since 1990. Now, over one-third of divorces involve people in this age group.
I wrote Beyond Betrayal because I faced the prospect of divorce in my mid-sixties. I was forced to address all the possibilities of how my life would change based on not only my husband’s choices, but on how willing I was to seek and wait for God’s plan. I knew His will was for me to pursue forgiveness, restoration, and redemption. However, I could only control my side of the relationship.
The wondering and waiting was beyond difficult. But, I reminded myself daily: With God—ALL THINGS are possible!
